Birth Place !

Being born in Eleutherae on the Attic side of Mt. Kithairon gave me the name Myron of Eleutherae.

Works..

Myron is a Greek sculptor; an older contemporary of the sculptors Phidias, and Polyclitus. To the ancients he is known as one of the most multipurpose and groundbreaking of all Attic sculptors.Working almost completely in bronze, he is best known for his many studies of athletes in action. Out of his many works, only two sculptures survive the group of Athena and Marsyas and the "Discobolos" (Discus Thrower), both are marble copies made in Roman times.

DISKOBOLOS !!!!

The Diskobolos of Myron is bent over in the position of the throw, with his head turned back towards the hand that holds the discus, with one leg slightly bent looking as if he would spring up all at once with the cast. The Diskobolos of Myron represents the ideal man and athlete. His body shows physical aspect of strength shown is realistic. This statue shows the tensest position of the athlete's action however he remains expressionless, turned away from the crowd, and is focused on the task at hand.
